I'm personally just in it for Keanu Reeves, but for those of you who are hyped up for Cyberpunk 2077 (which, um, is most of you) keep an eye out for it at this year's GamesCom in Cologne, Germany. Entertainment area pass holders can watch the development team play the game live in Hall 6, Stand C049, from August 21 to August 24. If you're a cosplayer or cosplay fan, you've probably heard of the massive cosplay contest that CD Projekt Red has going on (details found here ). The online entry has been open for a while, but GamesCom will play host to the first of five offline qualifiers on August 23. First place for the qualifier wins $2000, game-inspired swag, and a spot in the Cosplay Contest Grand Finale with a pretty sweet prize pool. If you're lucky enough to get to GamesCom, it'll be quite the show all around! ...

With GamesCom kicking off in a matter of weeks, an Austrian website has seemingly revealed the latest title in the long-running Need for Speed franchise. It comes with a sizeable grain of salt, however. Word on the next NFS title has been thin on the ground. We’ve known it was coming this year for some time, when EA confirmed as much during a financial report. Developer Ghost Games sat out last month’s E3 too, but hinted at an unveiling this summer . Given that GamesCom is the largest gaming event of the year in Europe, and takes place south of Ghost HQ, many have pegged it as the location of the first public showcase. However, an Austrian online retailer has jumped the gun, listing Need for Speed Heat for pre-order: There are a few issues here. For starters, the image uses a combination of a promo image from mobile title NFS No Limits and speculative mockups from the community. That in itself isn’t too unusual: retailers often use placeholders until official artwork is available. But even the name is up in the air at this point. Heat may in fact be accurate: many rumors have suggested a rekindled focus on the cop chases that dominated the franchise’s earlier years. It’s a move that’d make a lot of sense for a title that will celebrate the brand’s 25th anniversary. That latest blog update was also titled “Turning Up the Heat”. If Ghost Games will really be debuting the new NFS at GamesCom — whatever the full title may be — we’ll ...

With GamesCom 2019 just a few weeks away, news regarding the upcoming event is getting more and more frequent. We already know quite a bit about what major players like Microsoft are planning to bring to the table but what about the smaller ones? What indies can we expect to see at the event? As it happens, there will be a handful of very promising independent games present at GamesCom next month, one of which was just recently confirmed. The game in question goes by the name of Weakless and is a collaboration between Polish developers Punk Notion and Cubeish Games. The developers announced earlier this week that a hands-on demo of Weakless will be available at GamesCom 2019. Despite being a rather unknown title at this time, you should definitely keep an eye on it. The upcoming game looks great from what we’ve seen so far. Video Source: YouTube/Punk Notion Main Features and Story Weakless takes place in a fantasy world where you get to play as two wooden creatures known as Weavelings. The twist here is that one of the Weavelings is deaf while the other one is blind. What’s interesting about this concept is that you can only control one character at a time. This means you’ll need to switch often between Deaf and Blind in order to get a different perspective of things. Individually, each creature is limited by its weakness but together they are strong because they complement each other perfectly. The fairytale world of Weakless l ...

One of the biggest announcements to come out of E3 earlier this year was Cyberpunk 2077’s release date. At the event itself, people had a chance to go and see a new gameplay demo, showing off new parts of the game not seen in last year’s gameplay demo. The new gameplay footage has not been released publicly yet, but everyone should have the chance to see it in late August. First, CD Projekt Red will be showing the demo to attendees of GamesCom in Germany between the 21st and 24th of August. Then the demo will make an appearance at PAX West on the 30th of August, before being uploaded to YouTube and made available for full public viewing across the web. This all lines up nicely with the anniversary of the game’s first public gameplay debut, which also took place in late August last year. The demo won’t be a full hour-long showcase this time around, although we should get to see plenty of Johnny Silverhand, the character that Keanu Reeves plays. Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t too far off from releasing. Currently, the game is planned to launch on the 16th of April 2020 across PC, Xbox One and PS4. KitGuru Says: I’m very excited to see more Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay, especially with the release date not too far off. Are any of you going to be heading to GamesCom this year? Will you be checking out the Cyberpunk 2077 demo? ...

E3 barely seems behind me yet my inbox is already full of chatter about GamesCom, the big German show in late August. While GamesCom doesn’t have the mega-budget announcements of E3, it does have way more of a PC gaming focus, with all the weirdness and wonder that entails. With the Farming Simulator League starting soon, my big GamesCom hope is more niche digital sports grown from European sims. Oh! I know: competitive My Summer Car . That please, GamesCom. Yesterday, we found out that the footage that was shown at this year’s Comic-Con for Marvel’s Avengers would be officially released the week after GamesCom in late August . It’s probably no real surprise, though, that people weren’t going to wait to post some of that to social media, and we’ve got our first official glances at the demo through some potato footage. Via the game’s Reddit , people have been posting various pictures and videos from the event. Most of the videos are too far away and grainy to really be worth much, but some people managed to get some decent shots. They show some graphical updates, particularly to Black Widow, whose model looks much sharper than the E3 trailer. We also got to see some alternate costumes for everyone’s favorite brute, Hulk, one with an aged beard look and the other with a dapper suit called Mr. Fixit. Marvel’s Avengers will release on May 15th, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia. If you prefer to wait for the better footage where you can actually make out everything clearly, the A-Day demo footage will be officially released the week after this year’s GamesCom. ...

Marvel, Disney and Square Enix are teaming up to see if the Marvel brand can take over another branch of entertainment with next year’s Marvel’s Avenger . The game hopes to put us in the shoes of some of the most popular Avengers (though don’t expect any weirdly obscure stuff, you’ll have to check out that other Marvel game for that ), and tell their stories in a human way . The game got its first demoing this week at the Marvel Games Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, but it was not public for all of us who couldn’t attend the show. But don’t worry too much, the footage will come for the masses. During the panel, Square Enix confirmed that the footage of the A-Day Demo shown would be made public. The bad news is that we’ll have to wait a bit. They said it would release sometime in the week after GamesCom, which runs August 20-24. That means we will see that footage sometime between August 26-30. It is a bit of a long wait, but the game is still a good ways out, so take it one step at a time until Marvel’s Avengers releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia on May 15, 2020. ...
