NVIDIA Teases “GeForce Gaming Celebration” For August 20th At Gamescom 2018

Source: www.anandtech.com --- Monday, July 30, 2018
This afternoon NVIDIA announced their plans for a public “GeForce Gaming Celebration” later this month, taking place amidst the GamesCom expo in Cologne, Germany. Promising talk of games and “spectacular surprises,” this marks the first real GeForce-branded event that NVIDIA has held this year, and just over two years since they’ve held such a large event opposite a major gaming expo. The world’s biggest gaming expo, GamesCom 2018, runs August 21-25 in Cologne, Germany. And GeForce will loom large there -- at our GamesCom booth, Hall 10.1, Booth E-072; at our partners’ booths, powering the latest PC games; and at our own off-site GeForce Gaming Celebration that starts the day before [August 20 th ]. The event will be loaded with new, exclusive, hands-on demos of the hottest upcoming games, stage presentations from the world’s biggest game developers, and some spectacular surprises. The timing of the event along with the vague description of what it’s about is sure to drive speculation about what exactly NVIDIA will have to show off, especially as we're approaching the end of NVIDIA's usual 24 - 30 month consumer product cycle. Their 2016 event opposite Dreamhack was of course the reveal of the GeForce 10 Series. And the date of this year’s event – August 20 th – happens to be same day as the now redacted/canceled NVIDIA Hot Chips presentation about “NVIDIA’s Next Generation Mainstream GPU.” For what it’s worth, NVIDIA’s 2016 tea ...

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Might Be Shown At Gamescom This Year

Source: segmentnext.com --- Monday, July 30, 2018
We might be seeing Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay at GamesCom this year, after not seeing any in public at E3 this past year. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the biggest upcoming games currently, even if we don’t actually have a release date for it, especially when it’s only just now been officially announced. Cyberpunk 2077 was at E3 this year, but we only got to see a trailer while the conference was going on. While there was gameplay, it was only a small part of the game and could only be played behind closed doors with people not being able to record during it. However, if we do get Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay at GamesCom this year, we’ll hopefully be able to get a good view of Night City and its environments. We’ve only heard about what the game will include in it, including it being a first-person RPG game, different mega corporations , and a wide variety of various augments that you can put on your own body in order to give yourself various abilities. The Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay, if we get it at GamesCom, will hopefully be the same gameplay that we got at E3 2018 so that we can see it all. Otherwise, hopefully CD Projekt RED has ended up getting a new gameplay demo together. Cyberpunk 2077 was previously announced in 2012, but since then had not had any sort of news released about it as CD Projekt RED was busy with the Witcher games, which have only recently ended a few years ago. Cyberpunk 2077’s actual, final release trailer was shown at ...

Will NVIDIA Debut New GPUs at Gamescom?

Source: www.shacknews.com --- Monday, July 30, 2018
NVIDIA announced today that they will have a sizeable presence at the upcoming  GamesCom show in Germany. GamesCom beings on August 21 and runs through August 25 and has long been a showcase for upcoming games and tech. NVIDIA’s press release specifically mentions hands-on demos of upcoming games, stage presentations from game developers, and “some spectacular surprises.” While what these surprises may be is not yet officially known, the  recent buzz from the tech hardware rumor pill points to the imminent announcement of the next generation of NVIDIA gaming GPUs. These new GPUs are believed to be codenamed Turing, undoubtedly a tip of the hat to Alan Turing, the british mathematician who is widely regarded as the father or theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence. The Turing-based GPUs are the long-awaited follow up to the cards released with the Pascal architecture (GTX 1080/1070/1060). While no concrete information is available, large gains in power efficiency and the adoption of new connection technology like HDMI 2.1 and  VirtualLink is expected to come from these new parts. PC gamers who have been waiting until the next generation of gaming GPU release to make a purchase would be wise to start setting aside funds now. ...
