Watch This - Exploring A Plague Tale: Innocence's Middle Ages Setting

Source: www.ausgamers.com --- Thursday, January 31, 2019
One of the surprise demos I saw at last year's E3 and GamesCom was A Plague Tale: Innocence from French-based Asobo Studio. Set in the Middle Ages around the Inquisition and the Black Plague, the game features a sister and brother attempting to survive, and flee, one of the darkest periods in history. Today's video highlights the game-world Asobo has crafted for their adventure-stealth romp, which is utterly gorgeous and terrifying, both at once. This is the second video in a series (find the first one right here ), and highlights just how the team worked to craft such an iconic and dark period in history. After the first episode mainly focused on the young sibling protagonists Amicia and Hugo, Episode 2: “Dark Ages” takes us to the Middle Ages. Discover the process that went into forging a grounded, realistic world, set in one of the darkest hours of human history. The creative team at Asobo Studio explains their inspiration for the world they built - from visiting real French villages whose layouts, streets and buildings find their roots in medieval times, to taking cues from famous painters to craft the game’s naturalistic lighting. The carefully crafted world serves to enrich the story and the characters, and contributes to creating this moving, emotional experience. Having seen the game up and running in person, I can say with confidence this is worth checking out and definitely worth keeping an eye on for its May 15 ...

AOC reveals pricing and availability of its AGON 3 Series of HDR displays

Source: www.kitguru.net --- Tuesday, January 15, 2019
AOC unveiled its AGON 3 Series of curved gaming displays at GamesCom last year, catering to both G-Sync and FreeSync users. Tentative release windows ran a little over schedule, but the wait is almost over as AOC reveals pricing and availability for the AG273QCX and AG273QCG. While both the AGON AG273QCX and AG273QCG offer 1440p resolution, DisplayHDR 400 and a fast 1ms response time, there are some differences to watch out for. First of all, the AG273QCX sports AMD’s FreeSync 2 technology in its 144Hz VA panel. This is contrasted by the AG273QCG’s G-Sync 165Hz TN panel, which inevitably helped AOC net the Red Dot Design Award 2018. Behind the RGB AGON Game Lights and “3-sides-frameless” 1800R curvature screen, there are a range of features that both monitors share within the software. Game Color, Game Modes and Shadow Control offer users a greater level control over the saturation, profiles built for different genres and shadows, while Dial Point places an indicator in the centre of the screen for first person shooters. A built-in Frame Counter will help users track their in-game frames-per-second, and Flicker Free Technology has been implemented to help reduce eye strain. The AGON AG273QCG was originally meant to hit shelves in November, 2018, shortly followed by the AG273QCX in December; however the new release window doesn’t place the displays too far into the future. No specific date was put in place, but both the AG273QCX ...

PSVR’s Eden Tomorrow Feels Like The Robinson Sequel We’ll Never Get

Source: uploadvr.com --- Tuesday, January 15, 2019
It’s a little surreal to be stepping back into the world of Eden Tomorrow. I first tried this new VR adventure game back at GamesCom 2015. Its depiction of an alien planet enraptured me. It focused on discovery just as much as it did danger. But it’s been four years since then. You might think the magic had faded by now. Today’s new demo suggests it hasn’t. Eden Tomorrow is shaping up to be the closest thing we’ll get to a Robinson: The Journey sequel. But, with any luck, it’ll be even more than that. This seems to be a game that isn’t afraid to, well, make you afraid. The 20-minute gameplay slice available now on PSVR is book ended by two close encounters with an alien dragon, and there’s a springy jump scare towards the end that won’t please those with a fear of needles. But its willingness to alarm contributes to its intrepid spirit. This feels like Robinson but perhaps without the training wheels, a game that really wants to make you feel on edge. Within minutes of starting, I’m frozen on the spot by the steely glare of a monster that fancies me for its lunch, helplessly (and embarrassingly) shrieking a little when it takes a snap. Later on I’ve got my back against the wall as I traverse a bottomless canyon, and I’m throwing my head from side-to-side as I balance over beams. These were dangers we didn’t see until the last hour of Crytek’s VR adventure all introduced in the game’s opening. It’s darker, too. There’s a lot more ...
