Phil Spencer Talks About Xbox One X Pre-Orders, Plans for Gamescom

Today Microsoft’s Xbox Division Head Phil Spencer went on one of his usual Twitter sprees, as he responded to several questions from the fans on various aspects of the Xbox business. Spencer talked about the upcoming Xbox One X console, mentioning that the company is aware that it’s time to get pre-orders rolling, but there are no issues with it, they’re simply working through all the approvals. He also mentioned that Microsoft plans to talk about Xbox One X enhanced games later this summer. They’re aware that gamers will want to see the difference between games running on Xbox One and Xbox One X, so they’re going to make sure to find a good way to highlight that and help people make a decision. We also hear that for games already shipped, a download should be expected to add Xbox One X support, but for new games it’ll be up to developers. They can opt to either put the assets on the disk or require a download. Speaking of the summer, Spencer also mentioned that he won’t personally be at GamesCom this year due to a family commitment. That said, Microsoft will talk about its plans for the trade show in Cologne “soon.” Another element we’ll hear more details about later in the summer is original Xbox backward compatibility, that was announced at E3.
