JCPenney's (JCP) shares fell today on news of the departure of Marvin Ellison, CEO. While it's tempting to look at JCP as a sad story of poor management, that is a defensive mindset that protects leaders from recognizing their own fallibility. Great leaders know that a crisis can happen to them.
