Five things we learned in the Calgary Stampeders' Week 6 win over the B.C. Lions

For the second time in 22 days, 60 minutes of Football wasn’t good enough for the Calgary Stampeders. But unlike the 26-26 draw they battled the Ottawa RedBlacks to on July 8 in the nation’s capital, the Stampeders settled things this time around against the B.C. Lions. A 42-yard Greg Wilson touchdown with 2:19 to play pulled the Stampeders to within eight points and gave them a chance. A Ciante Evans interception on the very next series had the Lions reeling. Two plays later, Bo Levi Mitchell hit Bakari Grant to cut the deficit to just two points with 1:06 to go, before Anthony Parker completed the comeback on a successful two-point play to knot the game up at 41-41. By this time, the McMahon Stadium stands were half empty, but you couldn’t tell by the overtime roar when a Rene Paredes field goal gave them the lead and a Tommie Campbell interception in the end zone punctuated and put to bed a wild 44-41 win. Once heads stopped spinning, here are five things we learned in the Week 6 barnburner: Don’t ever count out the Stampeders at McMahon The Stampeders don’t lose very much at home, with just six blemishes on their McMahon Stadium resume since the beginning of the 2012 season. Over the last few years, the Stamps have made a habit out of the come-from-behind win in front of the home fans.
