Shane Vereen Injury: Updates on Giants RB's Recovery from Triceps Surgery

Source: bleacherreport.com - Sunday, November 27, 2016
New York Giants running back Shane Vereen hasn't played since Week 3 against the Washington Redskins as a result of a triceps injury, which required surgery on Sept. 28. He was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 27 but may still return this season.   Continue for updates.  Latest on Vereen 's Potential Return Sunday, Nov. 27 NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Sunday morning that the Giants are targeting Vereen 's return for Dec. 11 against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14. Vereen Struggling to Shake Injury Bug in NFL Injuries have come to define Vereen 's NFL career more than his skills as a running back. He did play all 16 games in back-to-back seasons in 2014-15, but those are the only years in his six-year career that has happened.  Aside from those two full years, Vereen has only reached the 13-game mark one other time (with the New England Patriots in 2012). He isn't reliable enough to be used as the top running back in a system, but his ability to catch passes out of the backfield gives him good value. Given Vereen 's inability to stay on the field and this latest setback, he is best used as a spare piece in an offense that doesn't require him to do more than the minimum amount of physical activity to extend his career. Still, he would represent a major boost to the Giants' depth at running back should he be able to return to the field this season. Read more NFL news on BleacherReport.com
