Of all 48 professional team sports markets in the United States and Canada, the Bay Area has the third largest number of teams. Its seven teams (two each in Baseball and, for another two or three seasons, in football) are outnumbered only by the nine in Los Angeles/Anaheim and 11 in New York/East Rutherford, New Jersey.
