Wendy’s has set up a giant truck at the 2016 Cattle Industry Convention , and cattlemen and women have been lining up as the fast food chain continues giving away burgers and frosties to attendees. “At the heart of the Wendy’s brand, and what’s been core to brand in day one when Dave Thomas started the company in 1969, is fresh beef,” said Liliana Esposito, Wendy’s Chief Communications Officer, in an interview during the expo. “We’re just so grateful to America’s farmers and ranchers for everything they do to help us bring a great product to our customers. We wanted to show them this week that we all have the same interest, which is high quality beef from US farmers and ranchers.” As the American consumer base becomes increasingly disconnected from agriculture and livestock production, Wendy’s has recognized their opportunity to provide consumers with valuable information about food production, and to play a major role in bridging the gap between consumers and livestock producers. “One of the things that we’re so proud of is that since 1969, we’ve serviced only fresh, never frozen beef from fed cattle in North America,” said Esposito. “So that’s something that we’re going to be more vocal about in telling our story and talking about the quality beef that they serve. We think consumers will love it, and we want them to be proud of what they’re eating, because we’re certainly proud to serve it.” Listen to Jamie’s full interview wit
