Friday night EFL fixtures affected by fog

Source: the72.co.uk --- Saturday, December 31, 2016
A number of English Football League fixtures taking place in the South of England were hit by thick fog on Friday evening. The poor weather conditions saw one fixture postponed and one abandoned in the Sky Bet Championship while two sets of fans saw little of the action in a fixture in Sky Bet League Two as the fog descended upon the Southern counties. The main fixture casualty of the evening saw Brighton & Hove Albion’s home fixture with Cardiff City postponed just two hours before the scheduled kick off at The Amex Stadium due to poor visibility. The Seagulls could have maintained their place at the top of the table with a win while the postponement saw the visiting fans’ 400 mile round trip become a wasted journey. With the scores locked at 0-0, match referee James Linington made the decision to abandon the match early in the second half although the fog did seem to be lifting slightly. Some of the concerns were rumoured to be relating to the conditions outside of the stadium. ABANDONED | Tonight's fixture against @FulhamFC has been abandoned.
