The Tony Romo situation is going nowhere fast. Here's a quick timeline of events that have happened leading up to this moment, as well as some analysis from NFL experts (scroll past the timeline). Aug. 2, 2016 -- Kellen Moore broke his fibula . Dak Prescott was the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart behind Romo at this point. Aug. 25, 2016 -- Romo hurt his back in a preseason game against Seattle. His injury was labeled as an L1 compression fracture . At the time of the diagnosis, it was said he didn't have to have surgery and would be out anywhere from 6-10 weeks. Sept. 11, 2016 -- Prescott started his first NFL game. Even in a 20-19 loss, the rookie looked impressive throwing for 227 yards. Sept. 19, 2016 -- Dak Prescott, after getting his first career win on the road against the Redskins, said the Cowboys were "Romo's team." Jerry Jones said the same exact thing the next day on the radio. Nov. 8, 2016 -- Romo was a full participant in practice for the first time since hurting his back against the Seahawks. However, Prescott got all the first-team reps. Jones then said he didn't know if the Cowboys were "probably are never going to have [the QB situation] totally sorted out." Jones also said that "I don't know that I'd trade [Romo] for anybody." Nov. 15, 2016 -- Prescott has led the Cowboys to an 8-1 start while throwing for 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
