There were many Southern Californians at the 91 Harvest Festival concert in Las Vegas, when a gunman opened fire, after busting Windows in a room on the 32nd Floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Sunday night. One of them was Long Beach resident Al Quakenbush. He says he came to Vegas with his wife, 8 year old daughter and his mother in law to enjoy the concert. Quakenbush says he and his wife were next to the front of the stage, enjoying the show when everything changed. “When the first barrage of gunfire came down, everybody stopped and we didn’t know what was going on. We weren’t sure if it was pyrotechnics or something went wrong. Once the second barrage hit, and Jason Aldean went running off the stage, we all hit the deck.” Quakenbush went on to say chaos and panic erupted and he decided he and his wife had to get out of there and quick. In their quest to make it to safety, they helped a woman from being trampled and moved another injured woman who was unconscious to safety, so she could be attended by a medic. They made their way out, hopped into an Uber and reunited with their family back at their resort.
