But many neighborhood business are rolling out the welcome mat and offering game-day discounts and deals to try and cash in on the sold-out game and pumped up fans. If you’re looking for refuge from the forecasts of record-breaking heat, look no further than Sunset Beer Company, 1498 Sunset Blvd., where they’ll be opening their bar at 2 p.m. and offering happy hour deals from 2 to 7 p.m. An employee at the Super 8 motel on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Vin Scully Avenue, the closest place to crash before and after the game, tells us that even with slightly higher than normal rates they are “completely booked for the next two games.” Nearby in Chinatown, the Best Western Plus Dragon Gate Inn, lists rooms at its hotel this Tuesday at $370–however this price can change since it comes from the Hotel Tonight app. A year ago when the Chicago Cubs competed in the World Series, Rhonda Reynolds and Rob Rowe, owners of Masa of Echo Park, 1800 Sunset Blvd., received a Facebook post from a customer longing for a native deep dish pie: “I ain’t rooting for no Cubs—we need a Dodger deep dish.” Starting today you can feast on a new Echo Park staple: the “Triple D” Dodger Deep Dish pizza.
