Google unveiled a new laptop called the Pixelbook this morning, expanding the Chromebook line well beyond the budget pricing that originally helped it gain attention and market share against Windows PCs. The touch-screen convertible notebook will start at $999, going all the way up to nearly $1,650 for advanced configurations, with a Pixelbook Pen going for an additional $99. It’s slated to go on sale Oct. 31. At its hardware launch event this morning Google touted the Pixelbook’s Google Assistant integration, describing this as its first laptop with the voice-enabled assistant built in.
