“Build your own Jurassic World.” It’s a pretty simple sounding pitch, though you might prefer to substitute ‘World’ for ‘Park’ depending on your age. Having announced it back at GamesCom, Frontier Developments have revealed a fair bit about how the game plays at their own Frontier Expo 17 alongside a new trailer. One thing is clear: graphically it looks incredible. Hopefully you can build a better and safer park than they managed in the films, but the game’s five islands will present lots of different challenges – there’s also Isla Nubla separately, but Frontier aren’t ready to chat about that yet – and it’s up to you how you want to tackle that while balancing the three pillars of your park, the Entertainment, Security and Science of the park and its facilities. You choose between these three experts and the contracts they offer to, for example, create the fiercest dinosaurs possible, simply make the best attractions to keep people happy, or try to advance our understanding of dinosaurs as much as possible. You’ll have full control over the process, sending teams off to dig sites around the world, collect DNA, sequence the genome and tweak it, if you wish, before hatching dinos and sending them to the attractions in your park. As you do so, you’ll collect snippets of information to fill out your Ingen Database, covering Dinosaurs, Dig Sites, Palaeontology, Genes, Locations, and Archive.
