The New York Mets window to win is closing,so how can they reopen it?

The 2015 New York Mets appeared to be the dawn of a dynasty. The Mets rotation was clearly the best in Baseball and every night another ace caliber player was taking the ball. Getting Yoenis Cespedes was the bat needed to carry the team to a National League pennant and although they lost to the Kansas City Royals in 5, it seemed like the Mets would be back in the playoffs every season. In 2016, the Mets made the wild card game after an up and down season. They dealt with a lot of injuries and it was seen as a success to clinch a playoff berth after a season where Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey had season ending surgery. 2017 was supposed to be the season where the team regrouped from the injury plagued year prior and returned to dominance. Not only did the Mets miss the playoffs this year, they had one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history. The pitching staff that was supposed to be the nucleus of this team had another injury riddled year, and also the worst ERA in Mets history. It would be utter insanity for Sandy Alderson to go into 2018 with the same mentality as last year. The five coveted arms – Jacob deGrom , Noah Syndergaard , Matt Harvey , Steven Matz , and Zack Wheeler – have never all pitched in the same rotation. Injuries have struck each of these pitchers at some point over the last two years, so heading into 2018 the Mets cannot be comfortable with trusting that it will all finally come together.
