For the second year in a row, an NFC coach went into a late December game at home against a division foe with a chance to win the division title. Instead, his team was routed and he was dismissed after the game. Last year, it was Mike Smith , whose Falcons went into the season finale 6-9 against Carolina and lost 34-3.
