One of the software features spotlighted in Apple's September 12 Keynote event was the Portrait Lighting in-camera effect that allows users to apply dramatic studio and stage lighting after the fact to portrait photos taken on the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Now, the feature has been given its own TV spot, where a girl is showing walking down a street towards the iPhone 8 Plus, passing through the different lighting setups of Natural Light, Studio Light, Contour Light, Stage Light, and Stage Light Mono. While still in beta mode, the Portrait Lighting makes use of the dual lenses of the new iPhone models and depth mapping to separate the subject from their background, before applying the aforementioned effects for distinctive results.
