Apple Working With Steven Spielberg For Amazing Stories Reboot

Source: ubergizmo.com --- Tuesday, October 10, 2017
Apple’s intention of making more original video content is no secret. The company has sent aside a lot of money to pour into these efforts and it seems to have found the right project to spend some of that money on. Apple is reportedly rebooting the popular anthology series Amazing Stories which was produced by Steven Spielberg, a legendary director, producer, and screenwriter who needs no introduction. The original Amazing Stories series ran from 1985 to 1987. Every episode would tell a different story on topics that would range from scary to magical. NBC canceled it after its second season but it did win five Emmys over the two years that it was on the air. The Wall Street Journal reports today that Apple has signed a deal with Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment production company to reboot Amazing Stories. They will be producing 10 episodes in the new series in collaboration with NBCUniversal’s television production division. There’s reportedly a budget of $5 million per episode. The report doesn’t mention if Spielberg will be involved with the project as a director but he’s likely to serve as an executive producer on the new series as well. Bryan Fuller of Hannibal fame is said to be the showrunner. It’s not known for sure right now when filming will begin so it’s likely going to be a while before we get to see what the Amazing Stories reboot looks like.
