Following a crazy Game 2 on Wednesday and a travel day Thursday, the World Series resumes Friday night with Game 3 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros from Minute Maid Park in Houston. The series is even at 1-1 after Houston won an absolutely wacky game between the squads in Los Angeles two nights ago. The teams combined for four home runs in extra innings, but Russ Springer ‘s 11th inning shot for the Astros proved to be the definitive blow, propelling Houston to a 7-6 victory. It was a crucial win for Houston — which could ill-afford not only to go down two games, but also to lose with the prolific Justin Verlander on the hill. With Houston’s pitching problems (particularly out of the bullpen) they need to capitalize on Verlander’s two starts. Lance McCullers Jr . gets the ball Friday night for the Astros, while Yu Darvish will be on the mound for the Dodgers. First pitch is at 8:20 p.m. ET. The game will air on Fox. Joe Buck and John Smoltz have the call.
