The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks had absolutely no chance in the National League West this season. The Los Angeles Dodgers were simply too good. But the second and third place finishers in the division had terrific seasons in their own right. And now, they have the chance to play themselves into the Division Series round of the playoffs with a one game showdown in the desert. Arizona gets to host the one-game playoff Wednesday night, thanks to their 93-69 record in the regular season. The Diamondbacks send ace Zack Greinke to the hill, looking for dividends on Greinke’s whopping $206 million contract. After struggling in 2016, Greinke has returned to form in 2017, going 17-7 with a 3.20 ERA. A strong performance against Colorado, and the “bust” talk which was so loud in 2016 will recede into the background. The Rockies will counter with Jon Gray , who went 10-4 with a 3.67 ERA in 20 starts this season. Gray has pitched well in the second half, but undoubtedly, he could use a little run support — particularly given his lack of postseason experience. First pitch is 8:08 p.m. ET. Ernie Johnson and Ron Darling have the call. The game will air live on TBS. The network will stream the game free for cable subscribers on the Watch TBS app , which can be downloaded via the iTunes store, and the Google Play store. [ image via ShutterStock.com ] ...
