On Monday night, veteran Baseball writer Tracy Ringolsby reported on a “building consensus that Baseball will soon be headed to a 32-team configuration” and suggested such an expanded and reconfigured league might include a franchise in Montreal. This vision of realignment, Ringolsby noted , was just his idea, but this is Montreal and the Expos we’re talking about here, so naturally the suggestion has taken on a life of its own. Incumbent Mayor Denis Coderre retweeted a link to an NBC Sports article rehashing Ringolsby’s idea on Tuesday afternoon. (His chief mayoral rival, Valérie Plante, previously called for a referendum before allowing any public money to be spent to bring professional Baseball to Montreal.) Montreal Expos supporters’ group ExposNation eagerly greeted the news . We are ready. — ExposNation (@ExposNation) October 16, 2017 They were hardly the only Montrealers to react positively to the slightest of hints that this city might once again get a Baseball team. I'm not a sports fan but I'd love to see the Expos come back to my city. I went a few times with my granny when I was young (she was a die-hard) and it would be nice to go back just to remember her & those time. ☺️ — Ricky B⚰️ (@orangefuzzz) October 17, 2017 Ça sent le Baseball à Montreal mes amis !!!! @Montreal_Expos @ExposNation @Return_2020 @ExposFest https://t.co/YFJNYdMfqV — Alex Trudel (@Strudel74) October 17, 2017 Sounds like a plan to me #Montreal ...
