Broncos' Colquitt forced to buy ticket for newborn daughter (Shutdown Corner)

As the parents of small children are well aware, the majority of airlines let babies under age 2 fly for free, provided they sit on your lap. But the NFL ain't JetBlue. Proving that there really is no limit to the league's money-grubbing ways, Denver Broncos punter Britton Colquitt was forced to buy a ticket to Super Bowl 50 for his newborn daughter. As in, she's less than two weeks old. As in, so young that she certainly won't be sitting in a seat by herself, let alone have any idea what's happening on the field, since she can only make out things about a foot in front of her at this point in her young life. And yeah, there's a pretty strong chance she'll sleep through 90 percent of the proceedings. And yet. [ Broadcaster? Quarterback? What will Peyton Manning do next season? ] “There’s no age limit to tickets," Colquitt told the Denver Post. "It’s $1800 for our week-old daughter we just had. It’s kind of crazy. (The baby) won’t remember, but I’m paying for it. It’s not about the money because with the tickets you end up kind of forfeiting your Super Bowl check. It’s about the medal I guess and the memories and putting your name in history forever." Some may argue that the baby shouldn't be at the game at all, but if the Broncos win, the photos and memories for Colquitt on the Levi's Stadium grass celebrating in the confetti with his new daughter will be an experience he'll always remember.
