Last week, you could read here about Gilmer Lampe who signed a deal with Fortitudo Bologna of the Italian Baseball League. Today it was announced that another player of the Dutch Kingdom will try his luck in Italian Baseball. Former minor leaguer Phildrick Llewellyn has signed a deal with A.S.D. Rimini Pirates for the 2018 season. Phildrick Llewellyn (photo: courtesy of Phrake photography) Phildrick, who is currently playing in the Asia Winter Baseball League with the representative team of the WBSC under the helm of Steve Janssen, used to play for the organizations of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Baltimore Orioles. The highest level he reached was the A-Advanced Carolina League where he played for the Delmarva Shorebirds. After the 2015 season, Phildrick was released and he headed to the Pecos League, where he played for the Alpine Cowboys and hit .323 with the team from Texas. This year Phildrick also played in the Pecos League but this time for the Trinidad Triggers where he batted a whopping .431 with 116 base hits. Earlier this year, Phildrick participated in the preparation of team Kingdom of the Netherlands on the World Baseball Classic. During the training camp in Arizona, he played in games vs the Korean Baseball Organization teams LG Twins and NC Dinos but he did not make the cut for the WBC squad. By joining the A.S.D.
