The Vikings have 19 rookies who just arrived, but Pro Football hall of famer Carl Eller said it’s not too early for them to be thinking about life after Football. Eller, a Vikings defensive end from 1964-77, addressed the players during organized team activities this week as part of the NFL’s new rookie transition program. After bringing rookies together in Ohio in June for a symposium in years past, programs are now being held at each team site. Eller, president of the NFL Retired Players Association, recently taught a course in the Twin Cities for former NFL players entitled Game Plan II about adjusting to life after Football. He presented some of the material from the course to the rookies. “It’s kind of ironic that they’re just coming into Football and we’re talking about being prepared for life after Football,’’ Eller said. “But it’s all about the concept of having a second game plan for your second career. That’s really important because the career goes by so fast. There’s so much stuff going on that you almost lose track of that, and it can be gone before you know it.’’ Related Articles ‘Hey Teddy 2’: Bridgewater stars in rapping birthday boy’s thank-you video Vikings’ Laquon Treadwell’s brother says Gophers not that interested Vikings’ Blair Walsh has put playoff miss against Seattle behind him Vikings’ Adrian Peterson says he’s in best shape of career 6-year-old Vikings fan meets Teddy Bridgewater after birthday invite T ...
