Normally, conventions like the Electronics Entertainment Expo or GamesCom are the main way companies offer demos to the public. In the COVID-19 era, though, that’s not possible, so instead, Microsoft is bringing the demos to you. Through ID@Xbox ‘s Summer Game Fest Demo Event, you’ll be able to download more than 70 free demos and play on your Xbox One at home. It’s important to note, however, that because this event is coming from Microsoft’s ID@Xbox indie game publishing wing, there won’t be any major AAA titles from either Xbox or third-parties. Gamescom Partner List Says We’ll Be Seeing Bethesda At Gamescom 2020

A recently-released list of GamesCom partners says that we’ll be seeing Bethesda at GamesCom 2020, hopefully with some more new games in mind. The company has yet to really make an appearance at the Summer of Gaming event, though some of the games that it’s publishing have shown up before now. While Bethesda has had a spotty few conferences these past few years, and there hasn’t been any news of things like The Elder Scrolls 6 or Starfield, two of their most-anticipated games, hopefully they’ll still have interesting things to show. Other GamesCom 2020 partners that will be joining Bethesda include Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Electronic Arts, Focus Home, Sega, Ubisoft, and many more, and all of them will likely have a lot of games to share at that point as well. Bethesda has also had a fairly mixed success this year since E3 2019, though seeing Bethesda at GamesCom 2020 will hopefully alleviate that. While they did see big success with Id Software’s Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein Youngblood from Machine Games fell flat after two well-reviewed predecessors. Of course, that doesn’t mean that Bethesda’s appearances at GamesCom 2020 will be all old games either. The company could just as easily be showing off new stuff from its studios, whether it’s new DLC for games like Doom Eternal or new segments of Elder Scrolls Online’s Greymoor expansion. Like every other marketing event on the face of the earth, GamesCom 2020 will be held entirely online as a series of streams. Even though there's no physical booths to construct, preposterously long lines to manage, or collective omnipresent body odor to power through, some of the industry's biggest names are showing up anyway. The exhibitors list for GamesCom 2020 has been released, and we can expect some major players to have a presence. Xbox, Bethesda, Sega, Activision-Blizzard, Ubisoft -- these are a few cherry-picked publishers and platform-holders that are expected to show something at GamesCom.  This all goes down toward the end of August. When we last checked in with The Settlers , Ubisoft Blue Byte was announcing the game at GamesCom 2018. Back then, the studio was forecasting a launch in Autumn 2019. That date was delayed into this year, but now Blue Byte has said that The Settlers won't be coming out in the near future. The release date has now been postponed indefinitely. In a post titled ' A message from the "The Settlers" team ', the developers write that they have decided to postpone the launch of The Settlers so they can build the best game possible. "Since quality is our main priority, we want to take the time necessary to make it write," they say. "Therefore, we had to make the difficult decision to postpone the release of the game until further notice. The additional time will be used to address your feedback and deliver the best The Settlers game possible." Photo by James Bareham / The Verge With traditional trade shows like E3 and GamesCom cancelled in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Microsoft is planning to bring a slice of the show floor experience to your living room. As part of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest , Microsoft will make dozens of demos for upcoming Xbox One games available to download for a week. In a blog post , Microsoft’s Glenn Gregory cautions that the demos won’t always be representative of the final product, since many of the games are some way off their release. That’s standard practice for show floor demos, of course, but it’s unusual for a major gaming platform to make unfinished games available to such a wide audience. There’ll be more than 60 demos available, and while the list is still being finalized, Gregory says it should include “somewhere between 75 and 100 when the dust settles.” Confirmed titles include Cris Tales , Destroy All Humans! , Haven , Hellpoint , Skatebird , The Vale: Shadow of the Crown , Raji: An Ancient Epic , and Welcome to Elk . Microsoft’s Summer Game Fest Demo Event will be available to access from July 21st to July 27th on Xbox One consoles.
