Miniature Puzzler Down the Rabbit Hole Coming Q1 2020

Source: www.vrfocus.com --- Wednesday, November 27, 2019
One of the more interesting puzzle titles to appear at GamesCom 2019 was Cortopia Studios’ Alices Adventures in Wonderland- themed Down the Rabbit Hole. Offering puzzle scenes which unfolded around you, the videogame was only shown on Oculus Quest with the studio saying other headsets would be supported. Now more have been added as well as the confirmation of a release window for early 2020. Cortopia Studios has previously confirmed that Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR would all feature versions, but now Valve Index and HTC Vive Cosmos have also been added to that list. It wouldn’t have been too much of a stretch to imagine those devices supporting Down the Rabbit Hole thanks to SteamVR compatibility, at least it confirms the fact for players interested. Down the Rabbit Hole uses the characters from the famous children’s book, so you’ll see the Cheshire Cat pop up as well as the Caterpillar, yet the story itself will be original. This time there’s no Alice, as the story takes place before she ever discovers Wonderland. So you control an unnamed female character who stumbles into this fantastical world, challenged to solve a variety of puzzles to find a way home. Rather than a fully realised 3D world, in Down the Rabbit Hole you are essentially like the title states. In this underground hole, the levels appear as little diorama’s, growing and expanding around you as area are explored and puzzles solved. Because of these ...

Kerbal Space Program's creator had no idea its sequel was in development

Source: www.eurogamer.net --- Thursday, November 28, 2019
Kerbal Space Program 2 was a surprise announcement at GamesCom 2019 - but it came as an even bigger surprise to the game's original creator. After leaving the first Kerbal Space Program team three years ago, Felipe "HarvesteR" Falanghe had no idea a sequel was even in development. Before Kerbal Space Program, the developer Squad was a marketing company. But then Falanghe pitched an idea for a game about space flight simulation - and the rest is history. A few years later, Falanghe's brainchild was released to the world, and Kerbal Space Program became one of the most popular indies out there, even managing to catch the attention of NASA . Falanghe left Squad in 2016 , leaving upkeep of KSP to the rest of his team as he made a fresh start with a new game. In 2017, the Kerbal Space Program IP was acquired by Take-Two Interactive, and until this year, that was all the clues we had that something bigger was in the works. Read more ...

Spitlings Coming to Google Stadia

Source: https://ift.tt/TLr0S6 --- Tuesday, November 26, 2019
It was back at GamesCom 2019 when HandyGames was going to show off a number of upcoming titles, including the hardcore, multiplayer arcade game Spitlings . In it you play as a Spitling that uses their teeth to spit or jump and your goal is to pop all of the bubbles on the level, but if one player fails, the level restarts. What fun is it to play with friends, if the friendship cannot be tested. Today it was announced Spitlings will be coming to Stadia, Google's cloud gaming platform. This means people will be able to play the game on a host of devices as it will not need to be run by that local device. With over one hundred levels to complete alone or with multiplayer (and then maybe alone again, depending on the strength of your friendship) there should be plenty there to engage with, and as you play you can unlock new music tracks, characters, and visual themes for some of the levels.     Source: HandyGames ...

Google Stadia launches this week: What to know about the gaming service

Source: pix11.com --- Sunday, November 17, 2019
A visitor plays a cloud-game at the stand of Google Stadia during the Video games trade fair GamesCom in Cologne, western Germany, on August 21, 2019. (INA FASSBENDER/AFP via Getty Images) NEW YORK — Google is about to take a big step into the video game market with a service that some have likened to a Netflix for games. On Tuesday, Google will officially launch Stadia, a service for streaming and playing games without needing to own a hard copy or even a console. At launch, the service will support a lackluster lineup of a dozen games — with more already in the works — and a reasonable price tag. Google will be competing with a daunting list of rivals in the industry who are betting the future of video games lies in the cloud rather than just physical hardware. Microsoft is currently testing its Project xCloud service and Amazon is rumored to be working on its own cloud gaming service. Sony recently slashed prices on its cloud gaming service, Playstation Now , ahead of Stadia’s launch. “The technology is possible, but it requires a company like a Google to really make it a reality,” Google Stadia head Phil Harrison told CNN Business. While Sony’s Playstation Now service , for example, only works on PC and console, Google’s supports a wider mix of platforms. Stadia works on TVs with a Chromecast Ultra dongle as well as on most computers with a Chrome browser and on newer Pixel phones. More devices are slated to be added in 2020 ...

Age of Empires 4 Gameplay Trailer X02019 Reveal: Long Time, Mo' Siege

Source: www.gameskinny.com --- Friday, November 15, 2019
It's been two years since Age of Empires 4 was announced at GamesCom 2017. Earlier this year, we reported that Microsoft would show AoE 4 's first gameplay trailer this November . Well, it's November, and Microsoft did just that at X02019 in London. The 4K gameplay trailer, which can be seen above, only clocks in at one minute, nine seconds, but it gives fans a decent look at what can be expected from the fourth mainline game in the RTS franchise. Considering we've waited this long for an official reveal, any footage is damn good footage. The trailer gives off a decidedly Age of Empires 3 vibe in its art direction and booming score. And though the game is definitively set in the Middle Ages, the X02019 footage showcases a world brimming with vibrant life. From the looks of the scenic forest map shown in the gameplay reveal, Age of Empires 4 won't be putting the "dark" in Dark Ages anytime soon. Instead, it will stick to the series' more bucolic palette seen in AoE , AoE 2 , and AoE 3 . Outside of that and the game's two confirmed civilizations — the Mongols and the English — not much else is known about Age of Empires 4 as of this writing. Currently, there is no release date for the game, and while we can safely assume it will be coming to PC, Microsoft has yet to announce any platforms. Age of Empires 4 is being developed by Relic Entertainment, the same studio behind other RTS series such as Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40K ...

Gamescom Opening Night Live will return in ‘multi-year partnership’

Source: https://ift.tt/2Z0t8KG --- Thursday, November 14, 2019
Geoff Keighley is certainly keeping himself busy. With the absence of major hardware manufacturers at GamesCom 2019, he put together what we know as GamesCom Opening Night Live, which gave fans an early look at some of the games ahead of the convention, including the likes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Death Stranding. The show was so successful that it is now going to be a regular feature thanks to “a new, multi-year partnership” with GamesCom, as Keighley announced at Twitter. The team and I had so much fun this summer in Europe @GamesCom — and today we're announcing a […] The post GamesCom Opening Night Live will return in ‘multi-year partnership’ appeared first on Playstation Enthusiast . ...

Gamescom Opening Night Live Returns Next August With a 'Multi-Year Partnership'

Source: www.pushsquare.com --- Thursday, November 14, 2019
Keighley is back. Without a single hardware manufacturer announcing plans for a press conference at this year's GamesCom convention in Cologne, Germany, everybody's favourite Geoff Keighley decided to step in and put on his own show. Dubbed GamesCom Opening Night Live , the inaugural conference was so successful that the man himself has just taken to Twitter to announce "a new, multi-year partnership" for the convention. Best known recently for planning and hosting The Game Awards , the Hideo Kojima hype man will return in August 2020 to put on another flashy show. We have to assume that next year's event will be better than what Keighley cobbled together a few months back, which can only be described as a tribute to his very best friend.
