14 newcomers join the Seminoles Baseball team in 2018. After a strong finish last season, ending with a trip to the College World Series , the Florida State Baseball team has much to be excited about entering the 2018 campaign. Tallahassee is home to the Seminoles but it’s Omaha, NE that really excites fans in the state’s capital. Coach Mike Martin has 14 new players to coach this season, so it’s about time you get to know them in our Know the ’Noles series. Shane Drohan (LHP) After Drohan was drafted (23rd Round) by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2017 MLB Draft , there is reason for FSU Baseball fans to be excited about the 6’3’’ left-hander. The Jupiter, FL native may not crack the rotation as a freshman — FSU is returning their entire rotation from last year — but his low-90s fastball and command of secondary offerings (curveball and change-up) will be on display for years to come. His MLB Draft video points out that as a former-quarterback, Drohan has good athleticism on the field, and that should bode well for his mechanical development and also aid him defensively. After being drafted by the Phillies with the 683rd overall selection, Drohan confirmed his intentions to the Palm Beach Post . “I want to thank the Philadelphia Phillies for giving me the opportunity to start my professional career, but I will be attending Florida State University,” Drohan said via text message.
