Coach Cancelled At NBC

Fans of the 1990s Craig T. Nelson sitcom Coach — who are legion, it turns out — were saddened to learn the revived series will no longer air on NBC as originally planned. Deadline reports that despite a thirteen episode order, the network has pulled out of the project after the filming of the pilot. Part of a wave of returning 90s shows like Twin Peaks , The X-Files and Full House , the new Coach was to be set in the present day. Retired Coach Hayden Fox returns to the business at the behest of his son, the head coach at an Ivy League school in Pennsylvania. Most importantly, Bill Fagerbakke was slated to return as fan-favorite Dauber. According to sources, NBC felt the pilot “dated.” Further creative differences led to the cancellation of the series order. There may yet be some hope for fans as Universal TV intends to shop the series to other networks and services. This isn’t the first series revival to hit a snag. Over the summer, fans of Twin Peaks held their breath as creator David Lynch and Showtime worked out a disagreement over the budget. In the end, it was resolved with more episodes planned than originally announced. Coach Cancelled At NBC
