PEOPLE reported Windows shattering and shaking as a controlled explosion took taken place at a beach in Newquay in the past two hours. A Navy bomb squad from Plymouth carried out a controlled explosion on Fistral Beach, with eyewitnesses reporting it took place around 12pm midday. Inspector Dave Meredith of Newquay police tweeted a picture of the device, and a plume of smoke spiralling up from the beach after it had been detonated.
