Can ‘Dunk City’ punch another ticket to the Big Dance? We’re about to find out during the Atlantic Sun tournament. The Florida Gulf Coast men’s Basketball team (23-7, 12-2) captured a regular season Atlantic Sun conference title after defeating Stetson at the Alico Arena on Thursday. The Eagles got off to a 1-3 start but quickly turned their season around by winning 22 of their last 26 games. They now find themselves as the No. 1 seed heading into the Atlantic Sun tournament, with a berth to March Madness on the line. Junior guard Brandon Goodwin shouldered most of the scoring duties for Florida Gulf Coast this season. The 6’2 guard averaged 18 points per contest. Zach Johnson , Demetris Morant , and Christian Terrell each averaged over 10 points as well. FGCU may be the top dog in the conference, but it will face plenty of competition as tournament play approaches. The Lipscomb Bisons posted an 11-3 record against Atlantic Sun teams. Their overall record this season is 19-12. The North Florida Ospreys have a 13-18 record but went 8-6 in the conference. Can Florida Gulf Coast punch another ticket to the Big Dance?
