Oklahoma Baseball: Summer Update

Oklahoma Baseball is in the midst of a busy offseason, with the departure of one coaching staff and another staff settling in. In regards to the coaching situation, head coach Skip Johnson has rounded out his staff for the upcoming season with a couple of strong hires. Clay Van Hook joins the Sooner squad after six years of coaching at Rice. Van Hook will be the third base coach for OU, as well as being in charge of the Sooners offensive game plan. Overcash will coach the catchers and will serve as the bench coach during the season. Along with finishing out his staff, Johnson is fairly hot on the recruiting trail and has seemed to have taken a play out of Sooner football head coach Lincoln Riley’s playbook. Over the past few weeks, OU has received commitments from several players including Kohl Franklin, Milan Walla and Rene Ramos. Johnson’s activity on Twitter and high engagement rate on social media is working wonders for the team’s recruiting.
