Former MLB Star Darren Daulton Dies Of Brain Cancer At 55

Daulton battled the disease twice. The Baseball world is in mourning tonight with the news that former Philadelphia Phillies star Darren Daulton has passed away. Daulton succumbed to brain cancer on Sunday at the age of 55. He had previously beaten the disease in 2015 but it returned recently. The Phillies confirmed the passing of their beloved former catcher. We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of 1993 NL Champion and Phillies Wall of Fame catcher Darren Daulton. http://pic.twitter.com/iPHB9Rn7vg — Phillies (@Phillies) August 7, 2017 A three-time All-Star, Daulton played almost his entire tenure for the Phillies (1983, 1985-97). He was traded to the Florida Marlins in July 1997, and finished his career off with a World Series ring that October. Daulton retired with a lifetime batting average of .245 and a .357 on-base percentage. He also hit 137 career home runs and drove in 588 runs. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
