Over the weekend, the “iPhone 8” rumor mill continued unabated. A copper gold version for Apple’s next flagship device now looks a possibility, plus a new trick has been discovered for the device’s long-rumored facial recognition capabilities. Not gold, copper gold In a Weibo post (via via MyDrivers ) now deleted, Foxconn executive Luo Zhongsheng said over the weekend OLED yield rates stand at around 60 percent on the 5.8-inch device, meaning that 40 percent of the product is left on the floor. Facial Recognition Elsewhere, iHelp BR has found code strings in Apple’s HomePod firmware that suggests the next iPhone’s long-rumored facial recognition feature will work even when the handset is resting on a flat service. As you can see below, the strings include the terms “AXRestingPearlUnlock” and”com.Apple.accessibility.resting.pearl.unlock.” Pearl is the internal name for Apple’s new facial recognition system.
