The house was built by Chick Iverson, once a close friend of actor John Wayne. The 3,808-square-foot residence hit the market at $2.749 million in May 2017 before dropping to $2.649 in September. It’s been redone by new owners since Iverson, who was a well-known Newport Beach car dealer, built it in 1972. But a symbol of their friendship survived for decades; the fireplace mantle in the living room is from a John Wayne movie set, according to Tim Carr and Melissa Barnes of Villa Real Estate, the listing agents.
