Will NVIDIA Debut New GPUs at Gamescom?

NVIDIA announced today that they will have a sizeable presence at the upcoming  GamesCom show in Germany. GamesCom beings on August 21 and runs through August 25 and has long been a showcase for upcoming games and tech. NVIDIA’s press release specifically mentions hands-on demos of upcoming games, stage presentations from game developers, and “some spectacular surprises.” While what these surprises may be is not yet officially known, the  recent buzz from the tech hardware rumor pill points to the imminent announcement of the next generation of NVIDIA gaming GPUs. These new GPUs are believed to be codenamed Turing, undoubtedly a tip of the hat to Alan Turing, the british mathematician who is widely regarded as the father or theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence. The Turing-based GPUs are the long-awaited follow up to the cards released with the Pascal architecture (GTX 1080/1070/1060). While no concrete information is available, large gains in power efficiency and the adoption of new connection technology like HDMI 2.1 and  VirtualLink is expected to come from these new parts. PC gamers who have been waiting until the next generation of gaming GPU release to make a purchase would be wise to start setting aside funds now. ...
