Gaming Events to Watch (Instead of E3)

Source: dispatches.cheatcc.com --- Tuesday, April 28, 2020
E3 2020 is cancelled. GamesCom 2020 is cancelled in lieu of some digital event. San Diego Comic Con is cancelled. GDC 2020 was cancelled already. SXSW was cancelled and the annual Sonic the Hedgehog panel died with it. You get the picture here - the COVID-19 virus has killed enough events to totally disrupt the usual gaming news cycles. But the show must go on, and publishers need to get the word out. Luckily, several other spaces have stepped up and provided platforms for video games to continue happening. Here are the online events you can look forward to. IGN Summer of Gaming IGN was the first to announce one of these events, and will be hosting its Summer of Gaming content in early June. One of the world’s biggest entertainment media websites has shacked up with several companies, including Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco, and CD Projekt RED, to provide a wide array of news, demonstrations, and presentations. IGN is always a huge presence at E3, and it seems like the Summer of Gaming is definitely gunning to fill that void. Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition The Game Awards launched a side event last year called the Game Festival, which let publishers temporarily upload game demos to Steam. This helped the fans at home get a similar taste to what fans attending events had access to. Starting in June this event will return, and Geoff Keighley has stated his organization is working on making this one multiplatform. This could ...

E3 nebude, ale live konferencie s novinkami áno

Source: www.centrumher.eu --- Saturday, April 25, 2020
Svoje konferencie mali pravidelne EA, SONY, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Nintendo a pred rokmi začala aj PC Gaming Show. Event sa bude volať “Summer of Gaming” a pravdepodobne potrvá niekoľko dní.

Steam's narrative game festival opens this weekend

Source: www.engadget.com --- Thursday, April 23, 2020
Unlike GDC , GamesCom and other gaming conventions that had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, LudoNarraCon can proceed as planned. It’s been a digital-only festival even before COVID-19, after all, featuring narrative games from indie developers that will be available through Steam. The event, which will take place this weekend, will showcase 40 game exhibitors and feature over 20 playable demos. It will also have over 10 panels of game development discussions and will come hand-in-hand with a sale for over 50 narrative games. You’ll be able to try out visual novels from various genres during the event, such as text-based horror game Beyond the Veil and cybernoir point and click adventure Chinatown Detective Agency . Sukeban Games will also be there with N1RV Ann-A , the sequel to cyberpunk bartender game VA-11 Hall-A . All the streams for the event will go live at launch — panels, however, will go online at different times throughout the weekend — and will be looped throughout LudoNarraCon’s duration. That means you’ll be able to attend the whole convention, so long as you check it out from April 24th through the 27th. ...

PAX West 2020 Apparently Still On

Source: simplybinge.com --- Wednesday, April 22, 2020
With the current global pandemic shutting down countries and by association travel, we’ve seen many events canceled or postponed. From GamesCom to E3 pretty much every thing was on hold or off the table, but apparently PAX West 2020 is still on. According to the information we received, the event is intended to be hosted on Friday, Sept. 4 – Monday, Sept. 7 in Seattle as scheduled. As plans for PAX West take shape, show organizers are optimistic and will continue to carefully monitor the latest developments regarding COVID-19, working with health officials at all levels of government and adhering to the guidelines of the CDC and WHO to ensure our event is safe, health-conscious, and responsible. Unfortunately despite this optimism it is still unclear when this crisis will be over. As of this moment travel to the US is still limited and with Coronavirus cases continuing to raise it may be wise to cancel the event for this year. That is disregarding the economical impact the virus will have and thus lowering the potential of people attending. The post PAX West 2020 Apparently Still On appeared first on Simply Binge . ...

Sony Won't Be Bringing PlayStation to Brazil Game Show This Year

Not surprising, really. The Brazil Game Show is a smaller event in the global gaming calendar than the likes of GamesCom or E3, but it's still South America's largest video game expo. Sony has historically taken part in the October show, exhibiting its games in the region as it does at many other events. However, this year, perhaps unsurprisingly, will be different. Gamescom 2020 : Le salon physique est annulé

Source: www.gamikaze.com --- Sunday, April 19, 2020

A recent post on Twitter , however, reveals that the organizers have decided to switch to a digital format for this year’s event to show their solidarity with the world. “It’s official: unfortunately, GamesCom will under no circumstances take place on site in Cologne this year. Just like many of you, we are disappointed, because, as the GamesCom team, we have been working on a wonderful GamesCom 2020 for months, just like the many exhibitors. However, it is also quite clear to us that, in the face of the corona pandemic, we must stand united. This means that we must all be considerate of each other and reduce the risk of infection.” The organizers also assured the community that they’re working “full speed” on the digital event which will be held at the end of August. “[GamesCom] is, after all, the biggest event for games, and that’s what it should be again this year,” they said. “You can already look forward to how we will celebrate the best games and GamesCom together with you and millions of gamers worldwide at the end of August, even if it will only be digital and not on location this time. GamesCom, the world’s largest gaming event, won’t be taking place in Cologne, Germany as planned this August. Following a nation-wide ban on major events, GamesCom 2020 will be taking place online due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19). Germany’s nationwide ban on major events is slated to last “at least until August 31st,” the German government says in an April 15th decree (German). Originally slated to take place the week of August 24th, organizers now say the expo will be happening digitally. To what extent that’s possible—outside of livestreaming keynotes, game announces, and developer talks from Devcom—organizers still haven’t said. Organizers say more concrete information will be announced in mid-May, and that ticket refunds will be sent out to attendees in the meantime. Minecraft RTX vs Minecraft: come see how much ray tracing really matters

Source: www.techradar.com --- Thursday, April 16, 2020
Minecraft RTX was first revealed way back at GamesCom 2019 , where Nvidia was showing off to the world just how advanced ray tracing has become. However, it's been nearly a year since it was revealed, and now that Nvidia Turing is getting close to its second birthday, it's kind of the perfect time for Minecraft RTX to enter its open beta. We've been playing the beta for a couple days now and based on our first impressions, we can easily say that it, alongside Quake II RTX, makes for a stunning example of how much of a difference ray tracing can make.  And, sure, it can be argued that ray tracing in a game as visually basic as Minecraft is a waste of effort, but it's that basic nature that really makes the difference in lighting pop. Ray tracing, in effect, makes Minecraft look like an entirely different game, and we've got the screenshots to prove it.  Here's a nice little teaser Minecraft RTX comparison image. We included a ton more near the bottom of the page.  When can I play Minecraft RTX? First things first, if you're looking to get in on the Minecraft RTX action yourself, you're in luck. The Minecraft RTX beta begins today , and anyone can sign up for it – but it's a bit of a process.  Quick note: if you plan to do any of this, be sure to back up your worlds by going to the following folder and copying any files you need to keep.  %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\co m.mojang\min ...

Gamescom 2020 Physical Event Officially Cancelled

Source: gamingbolt.com --- Thursday, April 16, 2020
Following a ban by the government of Germany on physical events till August end due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical event for GamesCom 2020 has been officially cancelled. Organizers Koelnmesse and Game – The German Games Industry Association announced the same on Twitter. It also confirmed that a digital event, which was already in the works , would still take place. “You can already look forward to how we will celebrate the best games and GamesCom together with you and millions of gamers worldwide at the end of August, even if it will only be digital and not on location this time. Because one thing is certain: this year, too, GamesCom is and will remain ‘The Heart of Gaming!'” More details will be provided in the coming weeks with refunds for paid tickets also on the way. On the bright side, GamesCom: Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley will be completely digital and streamed live on August 24th. You can expect a number of announcements and major reveals like last year’s showing. Considering that next-gen consoles are (still seemingly) on the horizon, it should be an interesting show. GamesCom 2020 is just the most recent in a long line of postponements and cancellations due to the pandemic. GDC 2020 was postponed to August while E3 2020’s physical event was cancelled with no online event happening . Publishers like Microsoft and Ubisoft will have their own digital presentations though concrete plans have yet to ...

Roll on August. We're all tired of hearing about it by now, but the coronavirus crisis has put a stopper on pretty much everything, and that includes major video game events. GamesCom is one example, with the German show forced to cancel its usual presence at the Koelnmesse in Cologne. The organisers said they were planning for at least a digital show , and it looks like that's absolutely the plan going forward. In a quick tweet, GamesCom has been confirmed to be going ahead as a digital show following Germany's ban on all physical events until the end of August. Official word now says GamesCom will "definitely take place digitally". Read the full article on pushsquare.com ...

Gamescom Officially Shifts Online After German Government Bans all Major Events

Source: www.ausgamers.com --- Wednesday, April 15, 2020
Gamesindustry.biz reports that GamesCom -- Europe 's largest gaming event, will now officially shift to an online model after the German government put a ban on all social and major gathering events until at least August 31. GamesCom was set to happen from August 22 for a week until August 29. This will be the first GamesCom we haven't attended in seven years (in a row), while this year's E3 will be the first we've missed in 18 years (which includes the E3 'missing' year (so 19 all up). And at this pace, we also expect Tokyo Game Show to be cancelled. Organisers of GamesCom have said the event will continue in an online capacity stating from the event's Twitter account that "GamesCom 2020 will definitely take place digitally! We will provide further information shortly". so that's an obvious "watch this space" revelation. Problematically, logistics about how this will work, even remotely, might prove more difficult than doing it live. Moreover, games are dropping like flies in the development schedule space, so there might still be a number of games that *would* have been ready for GamesCom, no longer on schedule for information-sharing, though we hope most development outfits have worked out how to work from home effectively. We'll stay tuned to this as part of the GamesCom press manifest and let you know what comes through the old wireless as soon as the update us. ...

Gamescom 2020 Will Now Be A Digital Event, More Details To Follow Soon

Source: gamingbolt.com --- Wednesday, April 15, 2020
Well, I suppose it was an inevitability when it was all said and done. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, almost every major gaming conference scheduled for this year has been canceled, and it seems it’s now time for GamesCom 2020 to also be affected. As announced via the official Twitter, there will be no more on-site physical conference. While this isn’t too surprising, since last month it was announced a digital format was going to be part of the show regardless , it now seems any small hopes of an on-site conference is out the window. Germany, where the event takes place, announced a ban on all major events until the end of August, the month GamesCom is scheduled. Some type of digital event will take its place. GamesCom is the biggest gaming convention in Europe and has become a major one internationally over the last few years. While it’s no surprise that this happened, considering all the complications with COVID-19, it’s still disappointing. We’ll keep you in the loop for when more details emerge on the digital format. Even though not all details are known at present, the nationwide ban on major events until the end of August will also affect the planning for #gamescom2020 . Furthermore: GamesCom 2020 will definitely take place digitally! We will provide further information shortly. — GamesCom (@GamesCom) April 15, 2020 ...

Gamescom 2020 Will "definitely" Take Place Digitally

Source: www.techpowerup.com --- Wednesday, April 15, 2020
The German Government today announced a nationwide ban on all major events until the end of August, effectively cancelling GamesCom 2020. Thankfully, this didn't come as too much of a surprise to the organizers and they had been preparing alternative options for some time. While the public in-person event won't be taking place a online digital alternative will be. Unlike E3 and GDC, GamesCom has time to prepare for proper a digital event and will announce more details shortly. GamesCom 2020 was set to take place from August 25 to 29 in Cologne, Germany. The yearly video game convention attracts over 370,000 attendees. The number far exceeds the 50,000 to 70,000 people who attend E3 and PAX each year. The current rules in Germany would prohibit GamesCom from taking place. It looks a lot like Gamescom's physical show won't go ahead

Source: www.eurogamer.net --- Wednesday, April 15, 2020
It seems this year's GamesCom will not be taking place as usual, as major events are being prohibited until 31st August as part of the German government's coronavirus response. The news comes from the German Press Agency (via Süddeutsche Zeitung ), which says the German Prime Minister and Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed to prohibit all large events at a conference earlier today. Specific regulations concerning the size of events are due to be made by the federal states, but given GamesCom pulled in over 370k visitors in 2018 , I think it's fair to say it will be included in the ban. GamesCom had previously announced plans to continue preparations for its 2020 event "as planned" , albeit while following the recommendations of the authorities. GamesCom is yet to publicly comment on the latest development, but it previously promised a "significantly-expanded" digital show , which may now form the entirety of GamesCom 2020. If the event is indeed cancelled by Koelnmesse, ticket holders will be reimbursed. Read more ...

Blizzard Provides Update on BlizzCon 2020

Source: games.mxdwn.com --- Thursday, April 09, 2020
The Coronavirus pandemic has changed how things have operated within the video game industry, leading to events such as E3 2020 being canceled or altered like GamesCom . The pandemic has also delayed some of the most highly-anticipated games of the year such as The Last of Us Part II and has led to publishers having to adjust how they release their games such as Square Enix releasing Final Fantasy VII Remake early so everybody has the chance to play it when it releases tomorrow. Today, Blizzard Entertainment provided an update about BlizzCon 2020, another event that seems to be in flux due to COVID-19. A note about our plans for BlizzCon in light of COVID-19: https://t.co/cnCQJeyJaS — Blizzard Entertainment (@Blizzard_Ent) April 9, 2020 Saralyn Smith, Executive Producer of BlizzCon said: “We love BlizzCon, and we know many of you share that feeling and look forward to it as an opportunity to get away for a while, meet up with friends, and have a good time. As so many of us have been isolated for multiple weeks now, surrounded and in some cases directly impacted by the ongoing pandemic-related challenges around the world, we’re looking forward to the time when we can see one another again in person and have something to celebrate together.” Saralyn Smith says that it’ll take a few months to know if or how they can proceed. They are still planning out the event including a “range of scenarios and possibilities,” in both the show a ...

Has Gamescom 2020 been Canceled?

Source: simplybinge.com --- Thursday, April 02, 2020
Due to the current global pandemic that is COVID-19 , many events throughout the word have been either canceled or postponed. For the gaming industry both GDC and E3 were were canceled, but many more were looking to Köln for answers. E3 has waned in relevance over the years, and GDC is not really a public event. GamesCom in Köln is however still a very popular and relevant event for Gamers, Developers, Publisher, and Media. As such GamesCom 2020 was one of the most anticipated events of the year. During 2019 the event hosted 373,000 visitors in the German city for an entire week. GamesCom is the world’s largest event for computer and video games and Europe’s largest business platform for the games industry. Hundreds of thousands of visitors from more than a hundred countries celebrate the latest games live at the event in Köln each year. Months had passed with the event holders standing firm about the event still being scheduled for the end of August 2020, but that has changed today. On March 31st the event hosts announced that GamesCom 2020 will take place online. The regular format will still be in mid May 2020, and they’ve ensured reimbursement for both visitors and exhibitors. So what does this mean? GamesCom 2020 will definitely take place at least in a digital format from 25 to 29 August. They say it will not be postponed. The same goes for the devcom developer conference (22 to 24 August), which starts off GamesCom week. ...

Gamescom 2020 Will Be Happening In A Digital Format

Source: games.mxdwn.com --- Wednesday, April 01, 2020
Ever since the cancelation of E3 2020 , many have been wondering what else would be affected due to the Coronavirus pandemic and what, if anything would be taking place instead of the event. Recently, Bethesda announced that they aren’t going to be holding a digital event for what would’ve been their E3 conference. Other events such as Quakecon have also been canceled because of the pandemic. There are several big video game shows that happen throughout the year. One of the biggest shows outside of E3 is GamesCom. The organizers of the event have revealed their plans for the event saying that GamesCom 2020 is taking place from August 25-29, 2020, in a digital format. Bude GamesCom 2020? Rozhodne sa v Máji

Source: www.centrumher.eu --- Tuesday, March 31, 2020
A to vrátane nás, zažili sme už niekoľko takýchto GamesComov a všetky boli skvelé.
