Linkin Park fans everywhere rejoiced after the official Game Awards (@thegameawards) Instagram account posted a photo announcing that Mike Shinoda would be composing the theme for this year’s GamesCom: Opening Night Live. Shinoda worked on the song earlier today, August 12, live on Twitch. The career of Mike Shinoda, performing with musical acts such as Linkin Park and Fort Minor, as well as his separate solo career, suggests that the GamesCom song will take inspiration from hip hop, nu-metal, and synth-pop music. The show is set to go up on Thursday, August 26, and will be presented by the host and producer of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley. GamesCom isn’t the only convention to be reworked for an online format due to COVID-19. San Diego Comic-Con was canceled and streamed last month. A few hours ago, New York Comic-Con officially announced its cancellation. The event will now be streamed on Youtube.
