Spicer: Diplomats opposed to ban should ‘either get with the program or they can go".

Source: politicalhotwire.com - Monday, January 30, 2017
White House press secretary Sean Spicer had a stern message for State Department employees opposed to President Trump's executive order banning immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries: “Either get with the program or they can go.” Dozens of career diplomats have signed on to a “dissent channel” document, which is a mechanism by which State Department employees can express policy disagreements privately without fear of retribution. The memo has been circulating in the agency and it expresses the view that the immigration ban “will not achieve its aim of making our country safer.” http://ift.tt/2kOg2Mr please merge if there is already a thread on this. I searched. But, for some reason, I really suck at that. .....let me say that Spicer has got to be the most defensive press secretary I have ever seen. Of course, that might be because generally the media doesn't cover the wh daily press briefings the way they have been with Trump. That said, he doesn't appear to understand what a letter of dissent is. It happened under Bush as well as more recently under Obama. It's certainly nothing to be issuing these kind of ultimatums about. In fact, as I understand them, the whole purpose is for diplomats to be able to voice their concerns without fear of retaliation. Could be wrong.
