Simple MagSafe On USB-C Solution

Looking at the MacBook Pro 2016, I will never understand why Apple chose to remove the MagSafe feature from their power adapters. What a unique selling point to junk. Especially sinds it would have been simple to keep. MagSafe is the magnetic connection between the power cable on one side and the power socket on the laptop body on the other. Accidentally kick the cable, and the magnet let’s loose. The laptop will not be janked off the desk to crash into oblivion. New Macs only have USB-C ports, and plain USB-C cables that plug into them. Jank the cord now, and the laptop goes, sideways at first, but then, firmly in the direction of gravity. While I was shocked at first, I am now fine with there being only USB-C ports on the thing. The rat’s nest, formed by the adapter cable bundle every Mac user must henceforth have as everyday carry, will only be in our lives for the next 2 to 3 years. Then, society will have caught up and everything worth using will have USB-C plugs. (Unless some other cooler port comes along, but let’s not think about that right now.) That said, it would have been much better if Apple had integrated MagSafe into the USB-C plug itself, perhaps making it a bit longer but that would have been alright. The plug would consist of 2 parts: the first part permanently attached to the cable, and the second part magnetically attached to the first part. This second part would plug firmly into the laptop’s port. If any one ...
