Chargers' DB coach Ron Milus on Trovon Reed: 'all he wanted was an opportunity'

Confidence is not an issue with Los Angeles Chargers defensive back Trovon Reed. Although he’s only played six games in the NFL, Reed acts like a 10-year veteran. That swagger spoke for itself last season, as Reed, who came up with the Bolts’ practice sqaud midseason after the team was decimated by injuries, picked off two passes and almost came up with three had it not been for a penalty that negated it against the Carolina Panthers. Chargers defensive backs coach Ron Milus worked closely with Reed last season and said it’s “awesome to work” with the former Auburn Tiger. “He is one of those kids who came into the building a year ago and all he wanted was an opportunity,” Milus said, per the team’s website. “He took advantage of his opportunity.” After going undrafted in last year’s draft, Reed did not take anything for granted. He showed up everyday to practice like it was Sunday. “One thing he told me when he was (first) out there at practice was, ‘Hey coach, these practices are my game day,'” Milus said. “He went about practicing like that, and when he did get his opportunity, he was ready to shine.” Reed’s confidence and pedigree definitely paid off for him. Now the Bolts have some solid depth at the corner position, especially with veterans Casey Hayward and Jason Verrett. ...
