Watch: Ohio State DC Greg Schiano Says His DL Is Better Than Ones He Coached In NFL

Talk about high praise. Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano has a lot of talent at his disposal on the defensive line this season. Tyquan Lewis, Sam Hubbard and Nick Bosa headline the group, but Dre’Mont Jones, Jalyn Holmes, Michael Hill and Robert Landers are no slouches either. But is this group better than an actual NFL defensive line? Schiano thinks so. In an interview with BTN this weekend, Schiano told the crew that this year’s Buckeye d-line is better than the ones he had when he was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 and 2013. “It is, and that’s not a joke,” Schiano said, via transcription from 11W. “We had a great player in Tampa by the name of Gerald McCoy, a tremendous player, but that was one guy. I go back to my days at Miami (as a defensive coordinator) in ’99 and 2000, this is clearly a better group than those guys, so that’s saying something.” The full video of Schiano’s interview is below.
