First MLB Player To Kneel for Anthem Arrested on Gun Charge

Bruce Maxwell, the first, and to date only Major League Baseball player to kneel during the national anthem this season, has been arrested on a gun charge. Maxwell was catapulted to the headlines in sports back in September, not for any on-the-field accomplishments, but for taking a knee at a Baseball game. He tweeted out his intention to join NFL players in protest following President Trump referring to players who kneel as sons of bitches, and saying players should stand for the anthem. Don’t be surprised if you start seeing athletes kneeling in other sports now!! Comments like that coming from our president. WOW! The Oakland Athletic’s catcher was not reprimanded, rather, Major League Baseball rushed to issue the following statement on the matter: Major League Baseball has a longstanding tradition of honoring our nation prior to the start of our games. We also respect that each of our players is an individual with his own background, perspectives and opinions. We believe that our game will continue to bring our fans, their communities and our players together. Now, Maxwell is back in the news, as he is under arrest for allegedly pointing a gun at a female food delivery person in Scottsdale, Ariz. Scottsdale police said officers went to Maxwell’s home Saturday night after getting a call about a person with a gun, and he was later booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.
