What is the best case scenario for the Tigers in 2018?

We’ve heard all winter about how bad the Tigers will be in 2018, but what happens if things go right? According to just about everyone who analyzes, watches, or has heard of Baseball, the Detroit Tigers are going to be very, very bad in 2018. Sadly, I’m not here to tell you that all of those people are wrong. This roster is... not great. However, just because the team isn’t expected to compete for a playoff spot, that doesn’t mean that this season has no upside. In fact, because there are no expectations and plenty of players who have yet to live up to their potential in Detroit, there’s tons of room for upside. What could go right ? The best case scenario for the Tigers still sees them sitting on the outside of the playoffs. At the end of the day the organization is in rebuilding mode, and even if the Tigers play decent ball for most of the year, prospects will (hopefully) not be dealt away in favor of quick fixes for a chance at the wild card spot. Still, the Tigers have some intriguing pieces on the roster, and in a perfect world all of these pieces will prove their worth to the organization as either long-term solutions or trade chips come July. Daniel Norris sticks out like a sore thumb on the roster, and not because of his unorthodox tendencies off the field. Norris was a true bluechip prospect when acquired from the Blue Jays in 2015, and has yet to cash in on his potential. Norris has missed significant time due to injur ...
