Blizzard explains decision to skip Gamescom 2019

Rob Leane May 1, 2019 Preferring to focus on developing titles, Blizzard has announced its decision to not attend GamesCom The makers of World Of Warcraft, Overwatch and Diablo III will not attend GamesCom this year, it's been confirmed. Blizzard has announced its intention to skip the massive trade fair in Cologne, which is taking place between the 21st and 24th of August. The days of companies having a presence at these events every year, as a given, seem to be done. Of course, cancelling plans and staying at home is one of the purest joys in life, but there is a bit more going on here. Rather than showing up when they have nothing new to wheel out, a lot of companies seem to be prioritising development time over snazzy presentations this year. This certainly seems to be the motivation behind Blizzard's skipping of GamesCom, with the company posting this statement on their website to explain the situation: "As part of a renewed effort this year to maintain our focus on development, for our current games and our future projects, we won’t have a booth at GamesCom 2019.
