Carrollton to hire Colquitt County offensive coordinator as head coach

Source: highschoolsports.blog.ajc.com --- Saturday, January 30, 2016
Carrollton will hire Colquitt County offensive coordinator Sean Calhoun as its Football coach pending school-board approval, the Times-Georgian has reported. Calhoun worked at Colquitt County the past two seasons, during which the Packers were 30-0 and set state-records in the highest classification for points in a season both years. Calhoun was quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator the first season before taking on a more prominent role. Calhoun was an assistant at Collins Hill from 2010 to 2013, finishing as offensive coordinator. He worked closely with former Collins Hill quarterback Tyler Heinicke, who passed for a Gwinnett County-record 4,218 yards and 44 touchdowns as a senior before setting NCAA records at Old Dominion. Calhoun is a Berkmar graduate who was part of two national championships at Valdosta State as player and graduate assistant coach. In high school, he is the last quarterback to lead Berkmar to a victory over Parkview (1999). Carrollton was 6-6 last season under Ed Dudley, who retired. The school has employed only five head coaches since Charlie Grisham started in 1958. Calhoun’s approval as head coach is expected to come in early February.   ...
