The State Dept. Issued Travel Warning Just Yesterday About Increased Terror Threat in Turkey

Source: www.mediaite.com - Tuesday, June 28, 2016
The horrible terror attack in Istanbul, Turkey today came exactly one day after the State Department issued a travel warning to U.S. citizens about the increased terror threat from Turkey. The warning yesterday said, “The U.S. Department of State warns U.S. citizens of increased threats from terrorist groups throughout Turkey and to avoid travel to southeastern Turkey.” The terrorists (possibly linked to ISIS but unconfirmed yet) targeted the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, and the State Department warned U.S. citizens yesterday about terrorists targeting “public venues where people congregate,” including “aviation services.” They issued these safety advisements: Avoid travel to southeastern Turkey, particularly near the Syrian border. Stay away from large crowds, including at popular tourist destinations. Exercise heightened vigilance and caution when visiting public access areas, especially those heavily frequented by tourists. Stay away from political gatherings and rallies. Follow the instructions of local authorities in an emergency. Stay at hotels with identifiable security measures in place. Monitor local media. As of tonight, dozens are dead and hundreds more have been injured due to the attack. You can read the full State warning here .
