In summer of '39 Budge, Vines, Tilden and Stoefen embarked on a tour that was to take them to Europe, South Africa, Egypt, India and eventually Australia over the course of ten months. The outbreak of war on September 1 forced them to return to the States, having completed only their tour of Europe .
