It’s the last week of spring training. And at this point, players across Major League Baseball are undoubtedly itching to break camp get the season underway. But yesterday, no players in the league were looking to hit the road more than those on the field and in the dugout for yesterday’s game between the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres in Peoria, AZ. That’s because the field was swarmed by bees during the ninth inning of the contest, in what was an absolutely wild scene. “Watch out for the bees!” A player is heard shouting in the video above. Players and umpires on the field hit the deck in an effort to protect themselves. They stayed down for a good 30 seconds before getting back to their feet and eventually resuming the game. Mercifully for the Padres, that was their last game of the year in their spring training home of Peoria. For the next 10 months, the field belongs to the bees.
