Cowboys VP Jones disappointed in Irving and Carroll

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president and CEO Stephen Jones spoke out on several topics on Tuesday, including David Irving’s four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance enhancing drug policy and Nolan Carroll’s DWI arrest. While he made it clear that he understands how such mistakes are made, he didn’t mince words in regards to how disappointed he is in both players. “Nobody is perfect,” Jones said Tuesday during a “Talkin’ Cowboys” radio interview on the team’s official website. “Everybody makes mistakes. Obviously if they make one while they’re wearing a Cowboys star it’s magnified in a big way. “We just have to continue to try to educate these young men that there’s consequences and there’s accountability that you have to have for the bad decisions you make. Then we have to move forward and do the very best we can. We know it’s frustrating and disappointing to our fans and all the people who support us.” Irving is entering his third season with the Cowboys after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2015. A defensive end, Irving started two games for Dallas last season and forced four fumbles, recovering one. Carroll is a cornerback in his eighth NFL season, but first with the Cowboys. He most recently spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, starting all 16 games in 2016 and collecting one interception and one forced fumble.
